Gelsenkirchen Zoo
A tram used to stop right at the Gelsenkirchen Zoo station. Today, an underground train runs from the town’s central railway station and stops a few hundred metres further on at the entrance of ZOOM Erlebniswelt, the former Ruhr Zoo that was completely refurbished a few years ago, and now boasts around three-quarters of a million visitors a year. There used to be a combined public transport and entrance ticket, but that’s been stopped due to lack of demand.


Special marks
Special marks are used for special areas such as military training areas or cables and pipes in the water; charts will have further information. These buoys are yellow in colour. They may have a diagonal cross as a top-mark. These are cylinder, light, spar, or pillar buoys.
