Winterswijk
Winterswijk is a Mecca for campers. Most Germans who’d rather spend their holidays in the open air than in the egg-box hotels of mass tourism have likely been there. Winterswijk is just across the German-Dutch border, where you’ll find Europe’s largest holiday park.


Cardinal marks
The cardinal system includes buoys that mark off the outermost edges of the navigable channel; the edges might be sandbanks or shallow water. The buoy pictured here marks a danger that should be circumnavigated to the west. These buoys are black and yellow in colour.
